Chain of Command

As demonstrated in the example image, the command of the Flagship and all Dominions are broken up into Battalions and Platoons. Platoons are sorted between Armed Forces and Economy, with Sergeants and Corporals responsible for managing Armed Forces Platoons, while Economy Platoons are managed by Architects and Engineers. Corporals and Engineers are both WO2s and thus can only give orders within their own platoon. Sergeants and Architects and give orders to other platoons if necessary but cannot give orders to a different platoon type. For example a Sergeant cannot give an order to an Economy Platoon, only an Architect can do that and vice versa. Lieutenant is the first rank where it becomes possible to give orders to anyone, whether Enlisted or Economy. However, it is recommended that Commissioned Officers focus on giving orders to their assigned Battalion, only ordering other Battalions if necessary. NCOs and COs that are not placed in charge of anything will normally be placed as a direct 2nd in Command to a Platoon or Battalion commander depending on the rank. You obviously cannot have a Commissioned Officer as the 2nd in Command to an NCO, it can only be someone of equal or higher rank. Due to observing a practical command capacity, Platoons cannot have more than 20 individuals in them. They should preferably be kept down to 10 members but if there are not enough NCOs to command that many Platoons then larger ones will have to be used until more NCOs can be employed. A single Battalion should not exceed three Platoons, however there is no real limit to how many Platoons a competent Battalion commander could realistically manage.

The commanders of Battalions and Platoons are responsible for the individuals under their command. It is their job to teach and enforce ISCA’s system onto those under them as well as to maintain activity of the Platoon/Battalion. Every Platoon should have at least a 20% conscription rate. Which means 20% of that Platoon’s members will log on for an operation. Platoon commanders who achieve more than 20% will be rewarded whilst commanders who achieve less than 20% will be penalized. If Platoons across a single Battalion are performing overall well or poorly then the commander officer of that Battalion will be rewarded or penalized. Battalion commanders will also be responsible for ensuring the NCOs are managing the Platoons properly and getting the optimal amount of people online.

Battalions are given unique names, usually based on their primary role and position within the Empire. Platoons are then given a unique identifier tag, marking them as a part of their parent Battalion. Battalions can then be given specific assignments or tasks, which dictates what they need to focus on and what the Platoons under the command of said Battalion should be doing. This should ideally be stored in an agenda channel that only members of the Battalion as well as all COs and High Command can view.

As demonstrated in the images above, there is little difference between the Chain of Command in the Flagship and the Chain of Command in Dominions. The only difference being observed in the Clearance 5 roles that would be leading the group.
